ABC Poster

I have put together a small package that I find handy to have on hand
on days when I don't have much planned for my kiddos.
I keep them in a three ring binder; laminated and three hole punched for easy access.
These are great for busy work right before dinner.
They can also be used as a mini-assessment.
Most of the sheets this week will look great black and white or color.

The ABC Poster can be used by calling out a letter and
having your kiddo circle it or point it out.
It would also be awesome to hang on a bulletin board for reference.
My favorite use for this is one my kiddos have fun with.
I have the upper case and lower case ABC magnets from Lakeshore Learning.
You can find them here: Magnetic Letters
My kiddos find the correct letter and match it up with the poster.
Sometimes we use our magnetic cookie sheet tray things.
But they don't always stick, so they aren't as much
fun as I originally envisioned they would be.

You can look forward to the following for the rest of the week:
Number Sheet
ABC and 123 Trace Sheet
Shape Sheet
Color Match Sheet

What I'm Working On

I currently have two units in the can.
I don't really know what that means.
But they are ready to go.

One is Safari Animals.
The other is Fourth of July.

I was going to release the Safari Animals first.
Then I wasn't sure, because I wanted to make sure the Fourth of July was fully released before the actual holiday.

So I will probably start with Fourth of July.
I am calling them mini-units for now.
I might add more activities if I get time.

Next week will be some odds and ends that I use on a regular basis...or when I am in pinch and just need something to keep the kiddos busy.
I will TRY to post something every single day next week.

Just an FYI of what the future holds:
Pretty Birds
Pirates
Candy
Forest Animals
Cowboys/Cowgirls
Back to School

I also found a new source for clip art.
I love the stuff I currently use and I have a lot left to use up.
But it makes for a nice change.

If anyone has a particular theme they would like to see featured, let me know.
I am open to suggestions!

Until next week...enjoy the Holiday Weekend.
I'll be eating lots of grilled food.

Superhero Lace Card & Size Sort

Two final Superhero activities.
The Lightning Bolt Size Sort and the Batman Lace Card.

The lace card should be laminated for sturdiness.
Punch random holes and have your kiddo thread the card with a child safe needle and yarn.
That's what we use at least.

Enjoy.

Black and white sheets are next week.
Then my Cute Animal Safari unit.
It is a mini-unit that will be released over two weeks.

My fourth of July until will be ready for release the middle of June.
Hopefully that is enough time for you to plan it in your schedule.
The entire unit will be released the week June 20.
Unless everyone complains and wants it sooner.

I'll do a preview in a day or two and ask for opinions.

Superhero Memory Match Game

Pretty simple game here.
I think everyone has played match before.
Print two copies.
Laminate if you want for durability and longevity.

Of course, it's Super Cute!
It's official.
I'm a dork who just can't stop saying cute!

Superhero Lightning Bolt Counting

I almost forgot that I had this file prepared.
Just your basic counting exercise.
Draw a number from the stack and count out the lightning bolts.
Here's a tip:
I hate wasting paper and ink and all that jazz.
I have made games like this several times.
Save the numbers and reuse them for each game.
Then you don't have to print out or laminate the numbers as well.
Although, the numbers included with this set are SUPER cute.
Sorry, I can't stop saying cute.
Another tip:
For this type of game, I actually don't laminate the board.
I place it in my three ring binder inside of one of those clear pocket pouch thingy-ma-bobs.
You know, the thingy-ma-bob.
Anyway, it keeps my page protected but doesn't waste my laminating materials.
I usually store a couple in the same pouch.
The numbers can be stored inside the pouch as well.

Someday I will take pictures of the way I store and present things to my kids.
Pictures are easier to understand than technical terms like Thingy-Ma-Bobs.

Next week I'll be finishing up the Superhero Unit with some odds and ends.
The following week I have a few black and white worksheets.
The week after that I will start a brand spanking new unit.
Safari Animals!
I know you won't believe it...but they are too cute.
Yeah.

Have fun counting!

Superhero Puzzle

Here's a fun middle of the week printable.
Just a simple Superhero puzzle.
Puzzles are VERY popular in our house.
Both of my preschoolers are up to 100 piece puzzles.
Little Sis has put together a 150 piece puzzle.
I get bored with a 24 piece puzzle after about five minutes.
When the kids need to settle down and focus I get the puzzles out.
If you have a local Dollar Tree...they sell them for ONE DOLLAR!
What a deal.
They also sell their generic playdough for ONE DOLLAR!
The way my kids mix it together and feed it to the dog I refuse to spend any more than that.
I don't think I could make it myself for less.

Anyway, back to the post at hand.
Laminate the puzzle for sturdiness.
Cut out along the dotted lines.
Have fun!

Graduation Party Pack

Grad Party Packs

I am making a ton of cupcakes for a couple of friends graduation parties.
Personally I like cupcakes better than sheet cake.
It always seems like there is a ton of cake left over.
In my experience that's not the case with cupcakes.
Usually there are very FEW left at the end of the party.
I'll let you know if that's true after the graduation parties.

I made a set of cupcake toppers for one party.
I decided to go ahead and make a dessert/buffet table card as well.
You can't tell by my so amateur picture, but I wrote Chocolate Cupcake on the table card.
Hopefully you have nicer handwriting and something better than a ballpoint pen.
Where's my sharpie when I need it?

His school colors are blue and gold.
Then I got to thinking.
Why not make them in a few popular school colors and offer them here.
You never know a few people might need them.

I suppose I can sort of make it into a contest.
The first person to comment on this post and tell me their school colors will receive one customized set.
Make sure your email address is included.
You can tell me the names and other specifics in the email.
No need to broadcast it.

The Links are below.
If you use these or blog about them, be sure to include my button or leave me a comment letting me know!

Superhero Color Words

My latest features all the color words with a matching Superhero burst.

There are two pages.
Laminate them and they can be used over and over again.

Next week I will post more Superhero themed materials.
I also have a few more simple black and white sheets to post.

Have a great weekend!

Addition with Dominoes

This is my first attempt at something a little more advanced.
I hope everyone finds it useful.
When I was in grade school we learned our addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts by repeatedly  practicing them over and over again until they were permanently embedded in our little brains.

My oldest daughter has not learned them the same way.
They skipped around and taught three different ways to do the same thing without ever mastering one technique or emphasizing the importance of having these facts memorized.

I am sure there are theories as to why this is a good teaching method.
All I know is that my 12 year old has struggled with simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division over the years. That is until I made her memorize them.

My hopes are to start my younger kiddos early and permanently embed their little brains with simple math.

I have included Dominoes Addition sheets for numbers one through six in one file.
There is also a large blank domino set.
I plan on using this with objects like small erasers, buttons, cheerios, other sorts of candy to bribe them with and other small educational items.
In fact we will probably start with the large blank version before I move on to the worksheets.

If these are a big hit I will continue to make them for numbers 7 - 12.
Then I'll move onto subtraction.
Multiplication and division are on my mind too...but probably not for a while.

Let me know in the comments if you think these are helpful.
I am also open to suggestions for multiplication and division!
